Portrait of a Pink Rose -- Watercolor
A tea party (see previous post) needs flowers and here's a rose. This is the first rose I ever painted, and I finally get to share it with others who love art too. It was painted 20 years ago and is part of the paintings I just found again. They are from the time when I painted in watercolor and quit because there was no one to share it with. What a blessing to have all of you who are interested in others endeavors and encourage them. Roses are my favorite flowers. This was painted from a photograph I cut out of a magazine.

That is so pretty, and detailed! I like how you achieved all that light and shadow inside those delicate petals.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely. You did a very nice job on the edges of the petals. I also really like the colors and shading you used. nancy
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely rose. You captured it very well.
ReplyDelete20 years ago! And it still looks like you just picked it yesterday. Roses can be tough to do with all those petals - but you did a lovely job!

You did a great job on the shadows and highlights - I always have trouble with that, so I really admire it when someone can do it right! : )
ReplyDeleteWow, you show such a control over of the medium! This is wonderful! And I agree, this group is wonderful! I know I won't be putting away my pencils and art supplies this time, when I hit that wall. I have all this support to help me work through it!

Lovely! I use colored pencil a lot but not entirely so I love looking at pencil work.
ReplyDeleteHa! Oops it's watercolor not pencil! Still wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun to find a painting from so long ago. It is just gorgeous!!! And it's even more fun when you can share it.
ReplyDeleteExcellent shading on the rose! Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteHOORAY FOR FUN FINDS They affirm us in so many ways ... This rose is terrific, and to think you did it years ago!
ReplyDeleteRamona, Thanks for visiting my blog. I love your acrylics...especially the Taos scene. Taos is such a wonderful, artistic energetic place. We were there one Christmas and went to one of the Native American celebrations. It was so awesome. I'm an oil painter, but am venturing into watercolors, as you are. They certainly are a challenge at times, but I think we will both benefit from doing them. Drop by any time and I'll stop back as well. Coni
